Tourism Safety and Security System in Lapland

Tourism Safety and Security in Lapland is build up during 2009 – 2013 by several EU-funded projects. The aim is to create and support safe business environment for tourism industry and also enhance and coordinate tourism safety and security research in Finland. The system creates a tight network between tourism safety stakeholders: tourism entrepreneurs, authorities, municipalities, educators and 3rd sector representatives.

 

Our sparsely populated areas' Safety and Security approach gained international recognition

Tourism Safety and Security System in Lapland is based on shared social innovation, developed in Everyday Safety in Municipalities project (financed by EAFRD). The common operative model in safety development has been evaluated by the European Institute of Public Administration transnational peer review. The model received regional award in EPSA2013, as the best regional innovation in public sector in Europe.

Nationally awarded system

Tourism Safety and Security System in Lapland has been evaluated by the Ministry for Interior, Finnish national security authorities and Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland. It received two awards in 2010: as the best R&D project developing tourism industries (Kärjet 2010) and as the best network model in the field of safety and security in Finland (Timanttiteko 2010).
