Dr. Alain A. Grenier
Alain A. Grenier, Ph.D. is a professor of nature‐ based tourism and sustainable development at the Department of Urban and Tourism Studies(School of Management, Université du Québec à Montréal, ESG‐UQAM – “University of Quebec in Montreal”). A doctoral graduate in sociology from the University of Lapland, Alain’s research began with an interest in the contradictive relations between people and the natural environment, in the context of tourism management and destination planning in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
While Alain’s work continues to focus on Northern tourism management issues, his research now also include the sociological conceptualization of the many tourism phenomenon that make up the industry, helping to provide a better understanding of society through its leisure and tourism practices. A former head of the Masters Degree Programme in Tourism at ESG‐UQAM (20010‐2012), Alain A. Grenier is also the editor in chief of the French language academic journal of tourism, Téoros, since 2008.

José-Carlos García-Rosell, Ph.D. work as a university teacher at the Multidimensional Tourism Institute in Rovaniemi. He obtained a M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna in Austria, a Lic.Sc. in Marketing from the University of Oulu and a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Lapland in Finland. His research and teaching interests are in the areas of sustainable marketing, corporate social responsibility, tourism product development, multi-stakeholder thinking and action research. Recently, his research activities have also been directed towards the phenomenon of cross-border tourism development and cooperation. His research has veen published in Management Learning, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, European Advances in Consumer Research and Tourism, among others. Since 2006 García-Rosell has participated in several research and development projects as researcher, trainer and business developer. In the project BART Public-Private Partnership in Barents Tourism, he is responsible for monitoring the production of the content of the tourism action plan for the Barent Region.
Teija Tekoniemi-Selkälä, M.Sc. (Econ.) have worked in tourism field both in private and public sector over 20 years in various research-, development and education occupations. Since 1999 she have been working for Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences / Multidimensional Tourism Institute as Senior Lecturer in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Teija Tekoniemi-Selkälä teaches mainly professional studies related to destination management and tourism product development in both Finnish and English degree programmes. In addition she have taken part in several partly EU-funded projects as an expert, a developer and a researcher. The projects that she have recently been involved are related to Barents Region, Foresight in Tourism, Green Care and Dream Factory. Projects create a basis for her professional ambition to integrate theory and practice.
